a love story

It's hard to explain. I was in the upholstery fabric store when I saw it. And I fell in love with it. I don't know why. I tried to ignore it as I was there on very specific business and this, this fabric, did not fit my mission. I walked away. But it called to me and some part of me knew I had to have it -- this fabric was made for me. Honestly, I've felt this draw before, but that was 25 years ago -- and it wasn't a piece of fabric.

It's called "bubble wrap", um, for obvious reasons. The clerks in the store actually laughed as I bought it -- were they laughing at me? or is this just such a happy fabric that it makes people cheery to see it? Must be the latter!

I dreamt about it for awhile, then dove in and started to create. I was thinking "Mary Poppins carpet bag" and for the inside I loved the idea of these dragonflies buzzing around...

I think the final product might be the tote-bag equivalent of "a-face-only-a-mother-could-love" but love it I do!

The bigger question is, will I still love it in 25 years? Probably not, but let's face it, that only happens once in a lifetime and if you're lucky like me, it's not with a tote bag.

I find it nearly impossible to believe that you won't love it in 25 years. I absolutely love it and totally get why you were so drawn to it DoOver!! It's just another of the things you've created that makes me want to put on my whiny voice and beg for it - but I know where that will get me.

You know what else I love? You and this whole story.

  2. 25 years - it's gone in the "pop of a bubble" - ;) - and yet there is so much evidence to the contrary - just look around. Like "Older sister", I love the bag, the story and most especially, you. And, I'm probably just a little emotional as I'm waiting for word from my Spanish miss...btw did you notice I'm now on Facebook?
