On the 12th day of December my blogger gave to me...

14 Christmas tracks on a Spotify playlist

Today I have for you this list of pretty random Christmas songs . Maybe you LOVE Christmas music, or maybe you'd rather have a tonsillectomy sans anesthesia than listen to yet another Christmas song. I get that. But I also want to introduce you to the wonderful new world of online music streaming.... with Spotify or Google music (or ?). Just know that this is the most economical way I know of (because I don't know about all the illegal-and-therefore-free ways -- plus I believe in supporting artists) to listen to just about any music you want. Plus it's an amazing way to find new stuff, get suggestions, change your mind... there are endless possibilities here.

So, listen to my random list whether you have a Spotify account or not (there are ads if you don't want a paid subscription, but they aren't too bad), or just take a moment today to check out what online music streaming could do for you (you'll need to make a free account to get started). You might never be the same.

THE LIST
  1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Bing Crosby -- classic
  2. Deck the Halls Red Hot Chili Peppers -- I. AM. SO. SORRY.
  3. White Christmas Barbra Streisand -- my favourite version of this song, I love her intro
  4. Christmas Time is Here Vince Guarlardi Trio -- Snoopy!
  5. Carol of the Bells and....
  6. Sleigh Ride Barenaked Ladies -- I know, I know, my 80's roots are showing
  7. Greensleeves Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy -- no one more qualified for this one than a couple of East Coasters
  8. Feliz Navidad Walk Off the Earth -- this Ontario band has a knack for creating listenable covers of seriously overplayed songs. Kudos to them
  9. The First Noel Crash Test Dummies -- Superman sings Christmas. That voice!
  10. Winter's Night Joshua Hyslop -- something different, soothing, folksy
  11. Xmas Time is Here Again My Morning Jacket -- well these guys are just cool
  12. Baby, It's Cold Outside Rufus Wainwright and Sharon Van Etten -- Canadian icon, what's not to love about Rufus
  13. Someday at Christmas Jack Johnson -- because for at least half the world, Christmas is in the middle of summer and ideally spent at the beach
  14. Dear Santa Jay Brannan -- seriously the saddest, SADDEST Christmas song ever. Santa HAS to eat those cookies, every time. The consequences are devastating.
Wow! That was a long one -- see ya tomorrow!

Ah, music! Nice list. Eclectic for sure. What about classical? Handel's Messiah is pretty wonderful too.

    1. I'm sure you can find all the classical music your heart desires on Spotify. I have to admit I'm not much of a fan of the stuff though.
