on the 15th day of December my blogger gave to me...
Christmas cheer of the alcoholic variety
Truth be said, I've never really needed an excuse to imbibe. But, if ever there was a time it was okay to tip back a drink or two, Christmas is it. I'm not a very adventurous drinker though -- beer, white wine, the odd G and T and a very occasional sherry (if it is exactly like the one I would sip with my parents long ago, but that one is, incidentally, not available in my corner of the country) -- oh, and champagne which I make it a policy to never ever refuse -- are pretty much my repertoire. So, I'm opening the conversation today; feel free to join the party in the comments section if you have something to add to my paltry list....
White Wine -- if you're looking for a wee bit of a splurge and something different to try I'm going to recommend a Chablis. Like "Champagne", which can only be used to describe wines from a particular region in France, Chablis wines come from the area around the town of Chablis. If you could juice a rock this is what it would taste like!
Beer -- time was when the word "craft" would conjure up images of hand knit tea cozies and glue gun creations. Not anymore! Go and explore the world of craft beers because there is something for everyone! IPA's if you like grapefruit. My favourites are now leaning more to the reds, the browns (NOT honey browns though) and even the odd porter which is not quite the meal-in-a-glass of a stout.
Cocktails -- I'm going to leave this category to the professionals. Like this blogger (Feast and West) who has a concoction for every taste.
