THINK BIG!

We arrived home the other day to discover this lovely pile 'o greens by the front door -- a gift from friends with lots of cedar needing regular trimming.

I let the size of the pile determine the size of the wreath I eventually made...

(For some reason, I can never do this without getting the wire tangled. Argh.)

In process... shoes for scale.

And in place!

Are things getting festive where you are too?

Nice friends you have! Love the contrast between the cedar and the pine cones.

My dear friend and I went and gathered our greens for our big front door and back deck pots. We gathered Western red cedar, Douglas-fir, Ponderosa pine and juniper boughs along with Red-osier dogwood, rose hips, red and green Oregon grape, sumac and snowberry branches to fill to overflowing these beautiful celebrations of Christmas. We also created our advent 'wreaths' with five candles to be lit, one on each sunday and on Christmas day. We have done this for about 5 years in a row and so it has become a tradition for my friend and I. If I had a blog, I'd put photos of them on it as I'm pretty proud of the results.
