meet the cluckers
First of all, please don't worry that this might become an all-chickens-all-the-time blog (though I considered very briefly changing the name to Three-Eggs-a-Day)... just indulge me this once!
They have names! I took the task of naming them pretty seriously. Although lists of chicken name suggestions abound on the internet (click here), I wanted something original, something that suited each bird, and something that wouldn't become old hat after awhile. So, without further ado, here we go:
Actually, her name is Antonia Banderas -- she's the darkest and largest of the three and the only one wearing a band (ha! get it?!) also, she kind of looks like her (almost) namesake don't you think? We'll call her Toni for short.
Stella is our medium-coloured girl. She's also the nasty one. There's always one in a flock and, like most teenage cliques, if you get rid of the nasty one, someone else just takes her place. She picks on the other two and takes all the treats first. Sometimes she makes me want to cry "STELLAAAAA" just like Marlon Brando in "A Streetcar Named Desire". That's why I call her Stella.

Gnocchi
Let's face it, they all are kinda potato-coloured. Gnocchi, though, is the blondest of the three, the most curious but also the most timid. Little Potato Dumpling seemed an awkward handle, so we'll go with Gnocchi instead (Here's pronunciation help!)
Here they are altogether!
My sistas!
ReplyDeleteyah!
DeleteGod I love this BLOG Dog! You make me laugh!! Does your Stella respond to you the way Brando's Stella responds to him? Hah! You can do as many chicken blogs as you want. It is all eggsellent with me.
ReplyDeleteYup, my Stella pretty much ignores me... you'll notice she wouldn't even look at the camera when I was snapping photos! Thanks for the nod of approval!
DeleteHave you tried reading something from Ernest Hen-ingway? Or, perhaps, telling her how well her favourite baseball team, the Blue Jays, are doing (a girl can dream can't she? she doesn't have to love a rooster...right?). Or, better yet, let he listen to Michael Buble will he croons ' Come Fly with Me'.
ReplyDeleteAll great suggestions Teresa! I see you've embraced the punny possibilities of the newest additions to our family!
