What's next?
In spite of the fact we have brought boxes and boxes (and boxes!) of books to the Rotary club for donation (most of them dredged up from the crawlspace), I ordered a few new ones in anticipation of the move. I take the Hermione Granger approach to all new situations.... when in doubt, find book for reference (for anyone who isn't a Harry Potter fan).
Floret Farm is an amazing resource in the local, organic flower movement (I'll likely have more to say on that in future posts). Food preservation in many forms via the folks at Well Preserved will become important if the 3 feet of snow we encountered while visiting the farm is any indication of our chances of being snowed in. And Windy Chien's book, while a practical resource on how to attach one thing to another, is more importantly a story of reinventing a life creatively -- a perfect link to the ongoing theme of this very blog.
"If a knot is a complication in a length of line (as defined in the Ashley Book of Knots), perhaps life is similar: a journey filled with opportunity, in the story we write for ourselves." -- Windy Chien
I had initially intended this post to be more of an explanation as to why we chose this move, how we can justify moving farther away from our kids, blah, blah, blah... but I think this actually explains it better.
Fare forward!

DeleteBeautiful books, a beautiful post, can't wait to hear more!
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks! We wouldn't / couldn't do it without the enthusiastic support of you and all the "kids".
